Parents work closely with an RDIconnect Certified Consultant who serves as a guide and coach. The clinical framework for working with families allows for the integration of a professional’s creativity and expertise, with a systematic approach to restoring and strengthening the natural Guided Participation Relationship and improving the entire family’s quality of life. Gradually parents take more responsibility for carefully choreographing an unfolding developmental progression. They learn to slowly but continuously raise the bar and present new challenges, while providing sufficient support for the apprentice to safely voyage without fear, into areas of greater uncertainty and challenge.
From day one, parents participate in the Learning Support Community, a toolset for designing personalized learner-centered experiences. Parents can learn through a variety of methods including online courses (e-learning), webinars, forums, blogs as well as other resources that can be accessed while working directly with their own consultant. The community provides a highly effective means for parents to participate in peer community networks and ties families with common needs together.
