The Importance of Consultants

An important feature of RDI® is the consultant training program.

However, this was not in place in the beginning and families who wanted to learn to guide their children would come to Houston, overnight videos back and forth and often fly in to our offices for training.

A question Dr. Gutstein and I asked early on was whether RDI® could be replicated through other professionals with the same success we were having.

Following is a young boy’s recounting of his family’s work with their consultant, Dema Stout.

As you watch this, you will see that the answer to our question was “yes.”

Your RDI® Consultant Guides You – You Guide Your Child

In this video, Montana talks about growing up with autism, and how RDI® has helped his family to help him to develop his communication with others, as well as other important life skills.

Montana was able to become an “active participant” in the RDI® program, involved in choosing what works for him and his family.

As a result, he’s been able to able to rebuild the relationship with his family, make friends, and become involved in social activities like the swim team and scouts.

Not only do families no longer need to come to Houston for training, but professional are not required to do so as well.
